A Dream Too Good to Defer

About three years ago, my husband and I discovered the beautiful Garden Valley area—and we fell immediately in love. The laid back atmosphere, the friendly people, the fun local community radio station with all volunteer DJ’s (maybe I’ll try my hand at that sometime), and most of all, the scenery absolutely blew us away. “Someday,” we decided, we’d buy some land, build a cabin and retire there. Well, someday happened sooner than we anticipated (at least for the buying part; the retiring part won’t happen for a while).

We found the perfect spot. Two acres over-looking downtown Crouch and a view of the Valley that seems to go on forever. We’re excited to build a relaxing life here, but for this year, we can’t wait to experience “the chaos,” which is what locals call the rowdy July 4 celebrations, from the convenience of our backyard.

If you haven’t been up here, you should visit and check out a few highlights, including the Starlight Mountain Theater for Broadway-style plays under the stars, and the Wine Festival at Terrace Lakes.

We won’t build our cabin for a year or two. But that’s not going to stop us from taking advantage of everything the area has to offer, surrounded by beautiful mountains and some of the clearest star-filled skies in the area. Come see for yourself!
