My Fair Share of Memories

It’s that time of year again. No, not football season (whoop whoop!), the new school year, or the return of that wonderfully crisp fall air. I’m talking the Western Idaho Fair!

I grew up in the Boise area, and going to the Western Idaho Fair is a summertime memory I cherish. One of my earliest memories is of my dad winning a carnival game—and winning us a HUGE stuffed bear for me and my brothers. I remember him throwing the prize over his shoulder as we all chanted “Dad won us a bear!”, and proudly skipping out through the front gate. That bear was so large that we climbed on it like it was Mt. Everest.

That bear marked the beginning of my Fair addiction. In middle school, my clogging dance group and I performed “Achy Breaky Heart” at the gazebo stage. In my teen years, my parents would drop me off and I’d spend the day laughing, eating, and, riding the rides at the carnival with my friends. Once I was old enough to drive myself, I’d drink a beer and enjoy the super late night with good friends and family, singing at the concerts at the top of my lungs.

Now, after years of Fair obsession, I am part of the team of awesome people at CLM who create the Western Idaho Fair’s advertising campaigns. I would never have guessed that I’d be spending my adult years making the Fair come alive for others like me.

Check out the daily schedule at sharemyfair.com to pick your must-sees this year (mine, for the record, are the concerts). And on behalf of the entire CLM team, I hope you have an epic time at the Western Idaho Fair!
